Compassionate counselling and psychotherapy in Shoreham by Sea and Hove.
Welcome, I’m Isla
I’m a fully qualified and insured psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Shoreham-by-Sea, and the founder of Care and Connect Counselling.
I offer a safe, confidential, and compassionate space for anyone navigating life’s challenges. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, going through a crisis, or living with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or relationship difficulties, I’m here to support you with empathy and care.
Inclusivity is at the heart of my practice. I’m committed to creating a respectful, affirming environment for people of all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations. I also warmly welcome neurodivergent individuals—including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other neurodevelopmental differences. Whoever you are, and whatever you’re carrying, you are welcome here—just as you are.
My approach is particularly attuned to those who may feel like the "black sheep," or who are exploring identity, purpose, or navigating difficult life transitions. With a background in the corporate world, I also bring insight that may be especially relevant if you're balancing personal growth with professional pressures.
I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your unique needs, always grounded in a humanistic foundation. I see you as a whole person—not a problem to fix—and I believe deeply in your capacity to heal, grow, and reconnect with your authentic self.
Together, we’ll explore your experiences at your own pace, making space for insight, clarity, and meaningful change—towards a more grounded and fulfilling life.
Confidentiality is my priority, providing a secure environment for you to share your thoughts and experiences without judgement.
Choose between in-person sessions from my tranquil garden office based in Shoreham by Sea, private therapy rooms in Hove or online/telephone counselling to suit your comfort.
I offer both short term therapy (i.e. 6, 12, 24 weeks) and long term open ended sessions and can tailor our sessions depending on what feels right for you
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £50. Some concessionary spots are available at a lower rate.
My availability is flexible, so the best thing to do is contact me.
Please reach us at info@careandconnectcounselling.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
What qualifications do you have?
I hold a first class degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am also a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I have to meet certain standards covering training, supervision, continuing professional development along with a contractual commitment to an ethical framework.
Who can you provide therapy for?
I am currently taking on for referrals for young people (16+) and adults.
I have experience working with different neurodiversities, genders and sexualities and am a strong advocator for inclusivity.
What can I expect from therapy?
Our first session will give us a chance to meet and to get to know each other a little. We will work collaboratively to explore how we can work together and to get an understanding of what your hopes and expectations of therapy are. There is no obligation to continue working together after this first session.
I work in a way that focuses on you and what you need. In our sessions, you’ll guide the conversation, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. When helpful, I will share information or use different methods based on your unique experiences and needs. The aim is to empower you to find clarity, resilience and a greater sense of well being.
How much does it cost?
My usual going rate is £50 for 50 minute sessions. I do however offer a sliding scale for those where this does not feel possible. The best thing to do is to send me a message so that we can discuss your needs.
How long does counselling last?
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long. I recommend weekly sessions (especially in the initial stages where we are building our relationship) however I understand this isn't possible for all and I shall do my best to cater to your needs. The length of our relationship will depend on your unique circumstances and needs. I have experience working both short term, long term and in between.
Will our sessions be confidential?
I fully respect my client's needs for privacy and confidentiality. There are some exceptions for where confidentiality may need to be broken in terms of client safety or if certain laws are contravened. I will discuss this with you in our first session.
